A man has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a fatal assault at the Portland YMCA. Robert Lancaster, aged 49, is accused of assaulting 60-year-old David Hannauer around 12:53 a.m. on Friday at 70 Forest Ave, where the YMCA is located. Hannauer, a member of the YMCA’s men’s dormitory program, received first aid from staff until the police arrived. Unfortunately, Hannauer succumbed to his injuries at Maine Medical Center on Saturday afternoon. The medical examiner’s office ruled his death as a homicide. Lancaster was initially arrested on an aggravated assault charge and later charged with murder while in custody at the Cumberland County Jail. He is currently held without bail.
