Maine is about to experience a snowy Tuesday with light to moderate snowfall. Between 3 and 6 inches of snow are anticipated to fall across the state. The snow is expected to start early in the morning, possibly between 3 and 7 a.m.
The snowfall will persist throughout the day, with the heaviest snowfall expected from late morning through the early evening. While no specific region is expected to have significantly higher totals than others, most of the state should see around 3 to 6 inches of snow.
The potential for slightly higher totals exists in Down East Maine, as the storm is expected to strengthen in that area as it moves away. Additionally, the snow is expected to be very light and fluffy, which could result in higher accumulations.
The snowfall will come to an end on Tuesday evening, followed by clearing skies on Wednesday. The rest of the week is expected to bring mostly quiet and cold conditions, with temperatures in the 20s from Wednesday through Friday.
Toward the end of the week, clouds will increase, and a storm is forecasted to pass to the south on Friday morning and into the night. Currently, it appears that the snow associated with this storm will stay to the south, but minor snow accumulation in southern Maine is possible.
After Friday, even colder air will move in for the weekend, with highs dropping into the teens and lows hovering near or below zero.
