A UPS delivery driver in Maine didn’t allow the widespread flooding to stop him from making his deliveries. A resident on Pond Road in Mercer captured a photo of driver Ryan Long using a boat to cross a washed-out section of Pond Road on Tuesday.
According to witnesses, Long was on the other side of the washout, expressing concern about how long people would be stranded. He mentioned having numerous gifts on his truck that he believed people were eagerly waiting for.
Fortunately, he spotted a neighbor’s boat, known as “Butch’s Courtesy Ferry,” and used it to complete his deliveries. The recipients were overjoyed and deeply grateful for his dedication.
A woman shared that the boat belongs to her husband and is typically used to help them commute to work at the Post Office. She mentioned that her husband and father have been assisting neighbors by using the boat to deliver packages, mail, generator fuel, and food.
Residents are hopeful that their road will be repaired by Thursday.
