Maine Nurses’ Foundation Spreads Holiday Cheer with Awesome Toy Drive

In Bangor, a group of local nurses is spreading holiday cheer by organizing a toy drive for kids in need. Alan Beatty, the president, and founder of the Not Your Average Nurses Foundation, believes that every child deserves a gift on Christmas. The foundation, now in its second year, has teamed up with 13 businesses to collect new, unwrapped toys.

Different drop-off locations offer various incentives to donors. For example, Moe’s is providing a 25% discount for contributors. All collected toys will benefit the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program, a cause close to Beatty’s heart as a former Marine.

Businesses, inspired by the initiative, have proactively joined the effort, demonstrating the community’s kindness and generosity. The foundation aims to foster a spirit of Mainers helping Mainers, with the hope that this momentum continues for years to come.

For more details and a list of drop-off locations with associated perks, you can visit the Not Your Average Nurses Foundation’s Facebook page. Donations will also be accepted this Saturday at the Maine Veterans Project office in Bangor from 9:00 a.m. to noon.
