Bangor Boys Hockey Takes The ‘L’ From The Nights Better Squad!

The Lewiston boys’ hockey squad kept their winning streak alive by securing their fourth consecutive victory this season. They triumphed over Bangor 4-3 at The Colisee on Wednesday, displaying an impressive performance.

All four of Lewiston’s (4-0) goals came during the second period. Coach Jamie King acknowledged that Bangor had a strong reputation, but the Blue Devils were prepared for a tough battle. In the first period, Bangor (3-1) scored the sole goal, courtesy of Chase Caron, assisted by Preston Henry and Miles Randall.

Lewiston struggled in the opening period with only two shots on goal, both thwarted by Bangor goalie Cole Fernald, who made 13 saves. Deano Scalia also spent 15 minutes in the penalty box for a pushing incident against Bangor’s Ty Walker.

Coach King recognized the need for improvement and urged his players to aim for at least 10 shots on goal in the second period. Deano Scalia scored early in the second period, followed by Jackson Guimond’s goal for Bangor.

Lewiston responded with goals from Dylan Blue and Cam Plourde, with Blue eventually securing his second goal of the night with assists from Nate Metivier and Andrew Theriault. Blue was named the player of the game.

Despite a somewhat slow start, the Blue Devils emerged victorious, and Dylan Blue remarked on their 4-0 record as an excellent beginning to the season. He attributed the slow start to the team’s inability to practice due to a recent storm and flooding across Maine.

Coach King expressed that Wednesday’s game was uncertain until around noon when they received the all-clear to proceed. Despite the win, the team recognized areas for improvement, including power play efficiency.

Bangor’s Coach Paradis saw positives in the game but also acknowledged areas for growth, particularly in the power play department. He emphasized the team’s rustiness and the game’s overall quality.

Despite their first loss of the season, the Rams maintained a positive outlook and highlighted their chances to tie the game in the third period. Blue Devils’ goalie Gabe Pomerleau, who made 22 saves, played a crucial role in preserving their lead.

Pomerleau attributed his success to anticipating the puck’s location and trusting his defense. The undefeated Blue Devils will face undefeated St. Dom’s (3-0) in their next game at The Colisee on Friday.
