A woman from Brewer got in trouble and was told she has to spend 2 1/2 years in jail. She also has to pay back money because she tried to trick the government into giving her a loan and bought guns for someone who wasn’t supposed to have them.
Between November 2020 and April 2021, she tried to get a loan from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs by lying and using fake emails. She sent fake documents and talked to the people in charge, all as part of her plan.
In another situation, she bought five guns in August 2021, saying they were for her, but they were actually for someone who wasn’t allowed to have guns. That person told her to buy them, and later on, they got arrested with one of the guns, a Walther model PK380 .380 caliber pistol.
For these actions, she has to spend 30 months in jail for the lying and another 12 months for buying the guns. She’ll serve the time at the same time. After that, she has to follow rules for three years, and she also has to pay back $177,000.
