On a special Tuesday night, the Maine State Chamber of Commerce threw a big party at the Holiday Inn By the Bay in Portland. They celebrated incredible people who did outstanding things for Maine!
They gave a special award to the Cianchette brothers, who started a construction company called Cianbro. Even though the brothers are no longer with us, the award recognized how they helped Maine by creating jobs, boosting the economy, and giving back to their communities.
Another cool award, the “Alton ‘Chuck’ Cianchette Business Hall of Fame,” went to Dajuan Eubanks, the Maine Celtics President. He got recognized for being a great leader in business and the community. Robin Mullins also got a special award, the “Dana F. Connors Chamber Professional of the Year,” for being an awesome leader at the Sebago Lakes Region Chamber of Commerce.
More than 450 people showed up to the event, including important people from the government and the Cianchette family. Even U.S. Senators Susan Collins and Angus King and Governor Janet Mills sent video messages to honor the winners!
The night wasn’t just about awards; it was also a chance to remember the Cianchette brothers. The family shared a video about them, and a new magazine called OneVoice Maine was introduced, all about the amazing Cianchette brothers.
In a heartfelt moment, Shanna Cox from the Lewiston Auburn Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce led a quiet time to remember the tragic event in Lewiston on October 25. They also announced a new fund to help small businesses affected by the incident.
To support the fund, the Maine State Chamber organized a silent auction during the party. It was a night full of celebration, honoring great leaders, remembering the past, and helping those in need.
The Maine State Chamber has been around since 1889 and is the biggest business group in Maine. They work hard to make Maine a great place for businesses. Check out their website for more info: www.mainechamber.org.
