Hey everyone! The awesome Knights of Columbus from Pine Cone Council 114 in Bangor celebrated the Cormier Family on December 5th at St Joseph Catholic Church in Brewer. They’ve been doing something incredible for 10 years!
So, the Cormier family has been part of organizing 14 Blood Drives with the American Red Cross since 2013. Can you believe they’ve collected nearly 500 units of blood? That’s a big deal! It all started to honor Paul Cormier, a beloved Knights of Columbus member who had Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Before he passed away in 2012, Paul needed 79 units of blood to keep fighting. But thanks to generous donors, he got those transfusions and got to spend two more years with his family.
Before he left us, Paul asked his Knights of Columbus buddies to organize blood drives to “replace” the blood he used. And guess what? They’ve been doing it for a whole decade! The goal is to help others who need blood and save lives because there’s a shortage.
The Knights have been organizing these blood drives at St Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor, and they’ve been getting a lot of support from the community. The next Blood Drive is on April 20, 2024, and they want donors to sign up online at redcrossblood.org. Let’s keep the tradition going and help save lives together!
