A new pizza place called Urban Pizza just opened in Bangor, seven years after they first talked about it!

Guess what? Urban Pizza just opened in Bangor after waiting for seven years! It’s on Main Street, close to Dunkin’ Donuts, and can fit about 60 people. Right now, they’re still getting things ready, so they’re not on social media yet.

The owner, Matt Haskell, is also in charge of Blaze at 18 Broad St. He has other places in Bar Harbor, Biddeford, Blue Hill, Camden, and Dover-Foxcroft, where they make fermented stuff.

Urban Pizza is different from Blaze. They talked about it first in October 2016 and planned to have wood-fired pizza and craft beer.

It’s a bit different because it’s a fast, casual counter-service spot, but Matt Haskell asks everyone to be patient as they learn and fix a few things. It took a while to open because they had some problems with licenses and had to make sure all the places could brew on-site. The pandemic made it even slower and messed up the supply chain.

In the summer, you can sit outside at Urban Pizza. You can check out the menu online. Pizzas are between $16 and $24, and you can pick your own toppings.

They have nine pizza options, like bacon and clam, mushroom, spicy honey soppressata, and vodka pizza. The burgers have names like ‘Urban Classic,’ ‘Urban Diner,’ and ‘Urban Smash,’ and they come on a soft Hawaiian bun. There are also things like Brussels sprouts Caesar salad, loaded tots, and poutine.

For dessert, they have Pugnuts Ice Cream and Gelato from Surry. Yum
