Parents Being Helped By Organizations At Meet Up

Parents got the chance to connect with lots of helpful resources on December 7.

The Penobscot Parent Expo was organized by different groups to assist parents expecting a baby and those with young kids.

Over 20 resources were present to provide support, and attendees had the chance to win door prizes and enjoy cookies.

The event’s motto was “it takes a village, come meet your people.”

Kim Collard, Team Leader of Penobscot Maine Families, highlighted the importance of such events, saying, “I have never met a parent who was not stressed out by parenting. That parent does not exist. It doesn’t matter your income, your background, or what your family looks like. Every child is so unique, whether it’s your first or your fifth, and all parents need support. The better your social supports, your provider supports, the more likely you are to succeed as a parent.”

While many organizations offer their own services, they aim to make this collaborative event an annual occurrence.
