Exciting Win: UMaine Hockey Beats Union 3-1

In an impressive display on Wednesday night in Schenectady, New York, UMaine’s hockey team secured a 3-1 win against Union College. Senior goalie Victor Ostman played a key role with 22 saves, contributing to UMaine’s success.

Ranked eighth in the country, UMaine now boasts a record of 9-3-1, while Union’s record dropped to 7-7.

The action kicked off in the first period, with Felix Trudeau scoring his second goal of the season just 2 minutes and 45 seconds into the game. Ryan Hopkins assisted in setting up this early success.

Harrison Scott added to the excitement at the 13:41 mark, netting his second goal of the year unassisted and pushing UMaine’s lead to 2-0.

The third period saw John Prokop making a power play goal at the 6:01 mark, marking his fourth of the campaign. Brandon Buhr and Caden Villegas provided the crucial assists.

Union College fought back with a goal, as Josh Nadeau secured an empty-netter with assistance from his brother Bradly and Lynden Breen. This marked Josh Nadeau’s eighth goal.

Throughout the game, Kyle Chauvette, Union’s goalie, made 21 stops, showcasing his skill despite the team’s loss. The collective effort from UMaine’s players, including Ostman’s stellar saves and contributions from various goal scorers, resulted in a well-deserved victory.
