Tim Karam’s son, Caden, is a baseball enthusiast. Caden even played for the Bangor Little League All-Star team that almost made it to the Little League World Series two summers ago.
To help Caden and other kids practice their skills all year long, Tim Karam decided to create a cool indoor facility called Hillside Athletics. It’s on Hillside Avenue in Bangor, right between Bangor High School and the Broadway Hannaford.
This awesome spot has two batting cages and golf simulators with the latest equipment. The baseball area has cool stuff like Trackman for analytics, HitTrax for real-time data, and an iPitch pitching machine that mimics any pitcher’s throws. They even use Stalker Radar to measure how fast a pitcher throws!
The batting cages are 70 feet long, giving plenty of space to practice hitting. On the other side, there are GolfZon simulators for golfers to play on over 200 courses. The simulators even show your swing path with cameras and have an automatic tee to save you from picking up golf balls.
Guess what? Former Bangor High School and University of Maine baseball star Trevor DeLaite teamed up with Tim Karam to offer baseball lessons. They’ve got group lessons and individual sessions for those who want to up their baseball game.
The facility cost about $250,000, but they’ve got reasonable prices for everyone. Golfers can play for $30 an hour during the week and $40 to $45 after 2 p.m. or on weekends. Baseball lovers can hit the basic cage for $30 an hour, but if you want the cool HitTrax and iPitch features, it’s $45 an hour.
And it’s not just for sports! The artificial surface can be used for other classes like pilates or boxing. You can even have birthday parties and team-building events there.
So far, the response has been awesome, with lots of Bangor High varsity players dropping by for some fun!”
