20 Year Old Maine Women Found… But She Is Dead

The body of a 20-year-old missing Maine woman, Ciara Cooper from Mexico, has been found in the Swift River, which had been swollen and turbulent. Her body was discovered not far from the Red Bridge on the border of Rumford and Mexico as the river’s waters began to subside.

The tragic incident unfolded on Monday around 4:20 in the afternoon when a vehicle was swept into the river. Fortunately, two men and a young woman managed to escape from the vehicle. Two of the men, aged 37 and 53, were able to swim to safety and were taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, the young woman did not make it to shore. Additionally, an older woman in the vehicle was unable to escape.

On Wednesday, the vehicle and the body of 61-year-old Gertrude Richard, also from Mexico, were discovered not far from the bridge.

Ciara Cooper had managed to exit the vehicle but couldn’t reach the shore. Our condolences go out to all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.

This incident serves as a poignant reminder never to attempt to cross a flooded road. Even if it appears that the water is only a few inches deep, it can conceal deeper hazards. Small vehicles can be easily swept away by relatively shallow water. Always exercise caution in such situations.
